Participants will gain greater understanding of HICS incident management concepts and/or the PIO role and responsibility in a practical application-based format. The course will include brief reviews of the topics and then move into more detailed position specific work. When possible, participants will be presented with practice scenarios based upon their Hazard Vulnerability Analysis to help them gain practical incident management skills for high probability events.
The day is broken into two seperate trainings:
- Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Training 8:30am - 12:30pm
• Refresh, expand and practice knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to function in key Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) positions.
• Demonstrate competency using the HICS to establish an incident management organization, using the Incident Action Plan (IAP) Quick Start planning process.
- Public Information Officer (PIO) Training 1:30pm - 4:30pm
• Introduce and/or refresh understanding of the role of the Public Information Officer in the hospital emergency management environment.
